Radar Repair and Certification

Located in central Arkansas, we are providers of police traffic repair and police traffic radar certification services for most brands of traffic radar operating on the X, K and Ka frequency bands such as Decatur, MPH, Stalker, Elite, Kustom Signals and others.  Our traffic radar repair and radar certification equipment remains calibrated in accordance with the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) on a yearly basis ensuring your equipment meets the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) requirements.

Today's Radar

Although today's traffic radar units incorporate digital signal processing to process the returned doppler-shifted signal of the target, they still use the original method of producing, emitting and receiving the X, K and Ka band signals. 

This digital signal processing has eliminated the need to 'calibrate' the radar but has not eliminated the need to check the accuracy of the transmission and receiving circuitry.  Today the 'check' is known as traffic radar certification.  Indeed radar repairs have decreased due the evolving electronics industry and more advanced technology but since they still use the original emission and reception methods they still have problems associated with these legacy components.  These components are vulnerable to degradation simply from age. 

The transmitting Gunn diode and mixer diodes will become unstable and weak over time causing erratic readings, ghosting, etc.  The technicians at Precision Radar understand the history of police traffic radar evolution and can quickly identify the main source of problems given a good description of symptoms.

Traffic Radar Service Options

You have the option of sending us your traffic radar or allowing us to come to you for on-site radar certification or radar repair.  We consider all locations within the continental United States so contact us if you have an on-site request.  Travel charges will apply to on-site calls unless:

• They can be scheduled with our monthly on-site service routes through the state.  Check with us about these schedules;

• The volume of units to be serviced is sufficient to warrant waiving the travel charges.  This volume level varies with the type of unit and service being requested.
